Why I Became a Financial Advisor

Why I Became a Financial Advisor

January 20, 2023

I started my career in the financial industry in 1980, which compared with today’s environment, was a completely different world.  For some perspective, the Dow Jones was 800 and mortgage interest rates were north of 12%.   The Iran hostage crisis was marking headlines and Jimmy Carter was President.  The top marginal tax rate was 70%.

After working for an insurance company and in banking, gaining invaluable experience and knowledge and hands-on experience, I made the decision in 1997 to start my own firm as an independent financial advisor.  Along with serving as a LPL Financial Advisor, I am also an entrepreneur and business owner.  I find this combination of experience fulfilling because I get to express my creative side and conceive customized strategies that I believe are the best for my clients.

Today, I am an advisor working with clients to develop and implement their financial planning objectives.  I provide guidance in areas such as asset allocation, estate planning strategies, IRA rollovers, retirement and insurance.  It has been a rewarding experience to work with such an interesting and varied group of clients that challenge and motivate me to constantly improve.  I not only enjoy taking care of my client’s and their families’ financial success but also getting to know them on a personal level on a long term and multigenerational basis.

Many of clients have been with me through the ups and downs of the economy and the severe financial crisis of 2007-2008.  I strive to create portfolios and that are based on my clients’ risk tolerance and goals with investments that do not have to be reallocated or disturbed due to major economic upheavals such as the COVID-19 aftershock, inflation, and the current market volatility.
